which rpg maker?

That's the one everyone uses, although his is a bit modified aesthetically. We use the XP version, even.
It's called the SBS (aka RPG Tankentai Sideview Battle System).

You can find it on any of the major RPG Maker forums.

You can't really get "the modified version." You have to modify it yourself.

EDIT: There are add-on scripts you can get. You just gotta look.

i've decided, ima go with VX, now does anyone have mario tilesets?, if it requires a script its fine.

Some people might have tiles that aren't in their games, but I don't know of any current Mario VX games that don't use 95% RTP.
