So, I downloaded RPG 2k3 earlier, and I have decided to make a game! I am now just learning my way around the program, but I should have a VERY early demo by Sunday. Probably just 4 or 5 maps, a few monsters, mostly storyline stuff. It will be a basic, adventurer type thing, not Mario-related. Any tips you guys have, would be great, and I also need to know how to upload the game. So, don't get excited, (at all) it isn't much of anything.

Pretty much everyone here is at least adequately educated on the Rpg Maker Series, so we can all help you. You'll be game making master in no time, I'm sure. And I know you're not new to the community, just saying.

Thanks! Right now I have a bit of my storyline element going, but my battle system is HORRIBLE! Also, my characters, sprites, and overall selection of tiles, and everything else is pretty bad. How do I make things look better, get more tile types, and fix battles? And also how do I upload the games?

http://charas-project.net/resources.php?lang=en This is a huge resource site

Well the battle system uses "half-ass" animations for the characters that only have like 3 frames, to achieve better looking graphics, you can use battle animations as your character's standing and attacking positions and such. This let's you have a limitless amount of frames and is quite flexible. Battle animations can be found at the site I gave you.

And again, have a grand time.

That's easy. I'm pretty sure there's an icon in rm2k3 that lets you render the game. Once you have the rendered file, you can upload it to some site such as Mediafire and send us the link.

EDIT: I just checked and it's called "Create a Game Disk"

Okay... I am at a standstill. I am having a character give the player lots of items, and I need to make sure that the player can't recieve those items twice. How do I set the event that way if you talk to the guy a second time, it won't give away the items?

Use an ON/OFF Switch
<>Fork Conditions :: If Switch X is OFF
     <>Here are some Items hero!
     <>Give Items
     <>Turn on Switch X
<Else>
     <>I already gave you items, hero!
<End>
