The primary reason I stopped working on DE was a motherboard failure on the system I currently had in 2005. By that time, DE had survived around six major crashes of some sort, the support staff had deserted, and I was tired of it. I believe it was around four months after the last release.
The other week, I had a HDD failure on the Compac system I was using since then. It being a 2004 model, I knew it would happen sooner or later - I just wished later. The drive is non-responsive and currently making the rounds at whatever data recovery place I can afford.
However, my rush for repairs fetched me a NexStar Universal Storage Adapter. So to make sure it was working, I went off, found the old Dell, unscrewed the old bitch, and took out the disc drive.
It still worked.
I won't restart work on it, because after all these years I wouldn't know when to start. Over the next few days, I'll reupload it for archive's sake. It is a touch broken, map-wise, so I'll see what I can repair first.
THANK YOU MW.
